Students face barriers to academic and social success for many different reasons throughout the course of their education.

One strategy therefore that has become popular in recent times to help students overcome these barriers is mentoring; a type of student – mentor relationship that promotes giving more individual attention, guidance, encouragement and moral support to students, and helping them navigate through new and ever more challenging circumstances.
